Understanding the Pipe Fitting
Pipe fittings and other fluid control devices like valves and pumps are used to connect pipe sections. The term "fittings" is commonly understood to refer to the components of metal and plastic pipes that transport liquids. In situations when a leak-proof connection is not necessary, different types of pipe fittings can be utilized to connect pipes for handrails and other architectural components. The fittings can be welded, threaded, mechanically attached, or chemically glued, depending on the pipe material. Pipe, tube, and tubing terminology might be a little confusing at times.
